The 5th China-Russia people-to-people friendly strategic dialogue opened?in Beijing?Tuesday to promote the development of the strategic partnership of cooperation between the two nations through non-governmental exchanges.
Hua Jianmin, vice chairman of the National People's Congress(NPC) Standing Committee, said at the opening ceremony that the dialogue has become an important channel for China-Russia people-to-people diplomacy and strategic cooperation.
Officials, experts and entrepreneurs from both countries are attending the dialogue to discuss regional security and practical cooperation in order to further deepen the strategic partnership of cooperation.
Hua, who is also the president of the China-Russia Friendship, Peace and Development Commission, said the China-Russia relationship is at its peak--15 years after the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation and 10 years after the signing of the treaty on China-Russia good-neighbor, friendly and cooperative relations.
The two nations' ties have become a model for good-neighbor friendship and cooperation with profound influence on world peace and development, he added.
Hua said the Sino-Russian Friendship, Peace and Development Commission will work with the Russian side to further promote cooperation in various sectors.
The friendly strategic dialogue was launched in 2006 with the aim to further develop the bilateral ties through non-governmental channels.
