Egypt's General Prosecutor Abdel Maguid Mahmoud decided on Tuesday to?send former President Hosni Mubarak and his sons to the criminal court over charges of intentionally killing peaceful protesters, Xinhua reported.

The state-run news agency MENA reported that Mubarak and his two sons, Alaa and Gamal,?face numerous charges, including premeditated murder of protesters during the nationwide demonstration that?ousted Mubarak?after 30-year rule.

About 840 people were killed and more than 6,000 others were injured in the nationwide demonstrations for over two weeks.

They were also charged?with misusing presidential power for private gains and profits, as well as wasting public funds.

He is also accused of conspiring with businessman Hussein Salem, who has also been charged, to sell gas cheaply to Israel and thus defraud the Egyptian government of many millions of dollars, BBC reported.

Mubarak is now under detention in a hospital in the Red Sea resort Sharm El-Sheikh.?Alaa and Gamal, are being held in Cairo's Tora prison, according to BBC reports.

The ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces denied last week that it intended to grant Mubarak and his family amnesty, stressing there was absolutely no truth about its intention to pardon Mubarak and his family.
