Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned on Tuesday the Libyan authorities' alleged crackdown on protesters, the English language satellite Press TV reported.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran deems the Libyans' uprising and their rightful demands in line with the region's Islamic awakening and follows the developments in the country (of Libya) with concern," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Unconfirmed media reports said earlier the Libyan authorities used warplanes and artilleries against civilians during the protests in the country, but the Libyan state television denounced the allegations as "lies" Tuesday.

Mehmanparast expressed concerns about the ongoing violence in Libya and called on the international community for a move to put an end to the use of force against the civilian protesters, said the report.

"The news of aerial attacks on protesters, residential areas and mass killings of innocent people have caused concerns and consternation. It is expected that international organizations and assemblies take immediate and effective measures to stop it (the violence)," he was quoted as saying.
