Four people were killed and ten wounded in separate bomb attacks in and near Baghdad on Wednesday, the police said.

An explosive charge planted near the Sunni Endowment office in Baghdad's northern neighborhood of Sabie Abkar, detonated in the morning, killing two guards and wounding four others, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The source also said that the blast caused damages to the building of the Sunni Endowment, a religious organization responsible for the Sunni mosques across the country.

In a separate incident, a sticky bomb attached to a vehicle carrying Propane cylinders ripped through Baghdad southern district of Doura, killing a civilian and wounding four others, the source said.

Also in the day, two soldiers were wounded when a roadside bomb explosion struck an Iraqi army patrol in Abu Ghraib area, some 15 km west of Baghdad, the source added.

Violence and sporadic high-profile attacks are still common in Iraqi cities, shaping a setback to the efforts of the Iraqi government to restore normalcy in the country after violence-torn Iraq held parliamentary elections more than seven months ago.
