China, Russia to step up cooperation between legislatures

Wu spoke highly of the growth in cooperation between the two legislatures, saying it was an important part of bilateral relations.
He called on the two legislatures to work more closely to step up economic cooperation.
He suggested first, to strengthen legislative exchanges and cooperation in coordination of the strategy of economic development, structural adjustment, and technological innovation.
Secondly, the two sides could help promote exchanges and cooperation between the two business communities and promote cooperation on big projects.
Lastly, the legislatures could work to guide and encourage scientists and technicians from the two nations to work together to push forward bilateral cooperation in high technology and innovation, Wu said.
Mironov expressed his congratulations on the successful conclusion of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. He agreed with Wu's views and suggestions on bilateral relations and exchanges between the two legislatures.
The Russia-China strategic partnership of coordination covered a wide range of fields, he said.
Russia would work with Chinese partners to improve exchange mechanisms to enhance cooperation, including in legislative matters, to inject vigor into the strategic partnership of coordination, Mironov said..
Wu and Mironov attended the fourth meeting of the cooperation committee of the NPC and the Russian Federation Council Monday. The committee was founded in September 2005. Wu and Mironov are chairmen respectively of the two sides.
The fourth meeting of the cooperation committee included an in-depth discussion on pragmatic cooperation on legislation and local development, and expanding exchanges on social activities and cultural events.
