The United States' easing of restrictions on the export of high-technology products to China would be in the interests of both sides, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said Tuesday.

Ma said China has taken note of a decision by the United States to allow the export of C-130 cargo planes to China.

"We hope the U.S. side to take additional measures to ease restrictions on the export of high-tech products to China. This would be in the interests of both sides," he said.

In a letter to the U.S. Congress on Friday, President Barack Obama said it is "in the national interest of the United States" to allow the export of the C-130 to help in oil spill cleanup operations at sea.

Two crude oil pipelines exploded in July in Dalian, a coastal city in northeast China, causing oil to spill into the sea.
