A Yak-42 plane flying en route from Moscow to the Chechen regional capital of Grozny landed in Volgograd after receiving information on planted bomb on board, the Itar-Tass news agency reported Sunday.

The plane with 73 passengers took off from the Moscow Vnukovo airport at around 04:15 p.m. Moscow time (1215 GMT), and received an anonymous call threatening that the plane can be exploded several minutes later.

"At present, police are inspecting the plane and passengers," said Serge Izvolsky, a spokesman for the Russian air transport agency.

All passengers of the plane, including six children, have been accommodated in the airport hotel, the Volgograd region governor Anatoly Brovko, who heads the anti-terror commission, told reporters.

"I met with passengers and tried to calm them down ... all of them are served with hot food and drinks," he said.

After the inspection, the plane will continue its flight, the spokesman for the Russian air transport agency said.

The aircraft was owned by Grozny Avia.
