Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Friday that the Middle East peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians are "stillborn" and doomed to fail.

Ahmadinejad said that the peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians which is underway in Washington is stillborn, and since the basic rights of Palestinians and the regional realities are not taken into consideration, the talks will eventually fail.

The fate of the Palestinians should be destined "in Palestine" and by the Palestinians themselves, not in Washington, London or Paris by the foreigners, Ahmadinejad said when addressing a Jerusalem Day rally in Tehran.

The Iranian president said that the regional states will not allow an inch of Palestinians soil to be ceded to the Israelis.

He advised some Arab leaders who are engaged in direct talks with Israel over Palestinian issues not to be cheated by the Israeli plots against the Palestinians.

"Decades of talks have not brought about anything for Arab nations," he maintained.

"Resistance is the only way to restore the Palestinians' rights, " he said, adding that "the West should cease attempts to support the Zionist regime."

Due to the global awakening over Israeli atrocities, the Zionist regime of Israel has been on decline over the past years, Ahmadinejad said.

He said that, in the face of Israeli atrocities, regional nations can wipe Israel off the world map.

On Friday, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi said that the Jerusalem Day rallies indicate that the Muslims' unity worldwide will lead to Palestinians' victory, according to the official IRNA news agency.

The Islamic nations by holding rallies in support of the Palestinians are moving shoulder to shoulder with the Palestinians and back their resistance against the Zionists, Salehi told IRNA.

On the peace talks between Israeli and Palestinian officials in Washington, Salehi said the meeting is doomed to fail.

Also, the senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Khatami, said Friday that "The (peace) talks are already doomed to fail," according to semi-official Mehr news agency.

Referring to the Israeli threats against the country over its controversial nuclear program, Ahmadinejad said Friday that Zionists and their masters would not dare to attack the Islamic Republic.

Armed Forces Joint Chief of Staff, Major General Hassan Firouzabadi, who had attended the Friday rally, commented on the Israeli threats against the Palestinians and Iran and told Mehr that every corner of the Israeli soil is under the bowshot of Iranian military.

The Jerusalem Day is celebrated annually on the last Friday of Ramadan in Iran to express solidarity with the Palestinian people and oppose Israel's control of Jerusalem.

The event this year coincides with the U.S.-sponsored Middle East peace talks held in Washington between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The Iranian people took to the streets Friday in support of the Palestinians and condemned the continued Israeli occupation.

The people chanted slogans and carried banners in favor of Palestinians and against Israel and the United States.

Some Iranian governmental and military officials also participated in the anti-Israel rallies in Tehran.
