Chinese Minister of Education Yuan Guiren will attend celebrations commemorating the 50th independence anniversary of Congo and Gabon, as a special envoy of President Hu Jintao.

The Congo event will be held in Brazzaville on August 15 while the Gabon event will take place in Libreville on August 17, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu Thursday.
