The U.S.-led United Nations Command (UNC) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) started a second round of colonel-level meeting Friday morning, the command said.

The working-level military meeting, which came after a similar meeting on July 15 over the sinking of a South Korean warship, is mainly aimed at discussing details for proposed general-level talks between the two sides over the warship case, including a concrete date and protocols.

The meeting began at 10 a.m. in the truce village of Panmunjom.

At the previous working-level meeting last week, the two sides "agreed to confirm the details of the proposed follow-on talks after consulting with their respective superiors."

As part of a trust-building measure, the command and the DPRK have held 16 general-level talks since 1998, and the latest round was held in March 2009.
