The Thai government has expected the situation in capital Bangkok will turn normal from Sunday, acting government spokesman Panithan Wattanayakorn said on Saturday, the Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.

His remark was made as the country's political situation is gradually stabilizing after the anti-government protesters ended on May 19 their over-two-month long rally in central Bangkok.

The Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situation (CRES) has prepared to cancel strict rules implemented to control streets and transportation systems around the Rajprasong Intersection, the spokesman said.

However, the government is now still closing monitoring the anti-government movement in five provinces, including central province of Chaseungsao, Karnjanaburi, and northern province of Pitsanuloke,Pethchaboon and Utaradit, he said.

Some 114 anti-government protesters, who have been detained, face charges of terrorism and violating the emergency rule.
