No Chinese national was onboard the passenger airplane which crashed earlier on Monday in northern Afghanistan, the Chinese embassy said.

Yin Juming, an official of the Chinese embassy in Kabul, told Xinhua that after checking the passenger list provided by the Kabul International Airport, it could be confirmed that no Chinese citizen boarding the crashed plane.

The PM1102 flight, which is operated by the private Pamir Airways, was enroute from Afghanistan's northern city of Kunduz to capital city of Kabul with 43 people onboard, Afghan officials told Xinhua.

The plane crashed somewhere near Salang Pass between Baghlan and Parwan provinces, Interior Ministry spokesman Zemarai Bashary told Xinhua.

Bashary said the ministry is sending a team to probe into the accident, but so far the crash site has yet to be located precisely.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Javed Basharat, police spokesman of Baghlan province, said the plane crashed south of Salang Pass.

Earlier, Abdul Hamid Khan, head of the Kunduz Airport, told Xinhua that those on board included 38 passengers, eight of whom foreigners, and five crew members.

He said no Chinese nationals among the foreign passengers onboard the crashed plane.
