As many as 61 Dutch tourists were killed in the air crash in Tripoli, on their way home, Dutch authorities confirmed Wednesday.

The Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said he was "shocked by the news of plane crash in Libya."

According to the ANWB, the Dutch tourist association, a tourist group including 62 Dutch were aboard the crashed Airbus and 61 were killed. Only a child survived.

The Dutch travel agency KRAS said in a short statement that several dozen Dutch were aboard the crashed Airbus.

"This morning, a unit of Afriqiyah Airways in Tripoli airport crashed. On board the aircraft were guests of KRAS." They departed from Johannesburg and planned to transfer in Tripoli to a flight to Brussels on their way home to the Netherlands.

Balkenende told a press conference here Wednesday: "Right now, we think of the victims, survivors, family members and friends, now in limbo".

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will do anything to help wherever possible, to provide support," he said.

The only survivor of the crash is a Dutch boy of 10 years. Local media said he was hospitalized but was doing fine. He suffered some broken bones and was being treated.

The flight from Johannesburg crashed at about 0400 GMT on approach to Tripoli airport, killing?103 people. The records of the crashed Airbus A330 have not yet been released.
