Normal services of state-run Chulalongkorn hospital in central Bangkok will not be resumed until the anti-government red-shirt protesters retreat from a nearby rally site, the hospital director said Sunday.

The normal services will be resumed only after the protesters withdraw from the Saladaeng Intersection and the Sarasin Intersection, Doctor Adisorn Phattharadul said, Thai News Agency reported.

The Saladaeng Intersection is opposite to the Chulalongkorn hospital which is about 700 meters away from the Sarasin Intersection.

Only emergency services are available for the public from 07:30 a.m. to 04:00 p.m., the hospital said in a statement issued Sunday.

The Chulalongkorn hospital has already evacuated some 140 patients to other hospitals for safety concern after the protesters on Thursday night stormed the hospital to search for troops they thought were hiding there, but found none.

The anti-government rally has been held since March 14 to press Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to dissolve the lower house of parliament and hold a new general election.
