Finnish Civil Aviation Administration decided to temporarily reopen Finnish capital's Helsinki airport since 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday local time.

Helsinki airport has been shut down due to the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland since zero o'clock on April 16, together with 24 other airports across Finland. The air traffic of Finland has been in stoppage since then.

Finnish flag carrier Finnair said its Monday flight from New York to Finland will land at 4.30 p.m. at Helsinki airport.

Finland reopened two other airports in Turku and Tampere in southern Finland for air traffic since 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. local time on Monday while Finnish Meteorological Institute said that currently there are only relatively small amounts of volcanic ash over Finland. Therefore, there is a window for around 5-10 flights to arrive at airports of Turku and Tampere then.

However, air traffic may be disrupted again due to another ash cloud which is to arrive in southern Finland Tuesday afternoon and spread northwards to cover the entire country at least until Thursday.
