The British Foreign Office called in Isreali ambassador Ron Prosor on Thursday on the allegation that fake passports of British Isrealis were used by Isreali agents to kill a Hamas commander.

Prosor said he was "unable to add additional information" after he met with a senior British official, emphasizing that it is "not the usual way to talk about what happens in those meetings."

The British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said that during the meeting the British side made clear to Prosor how seriously they took allegations of the fraudulent use of passports.

"We will give Isreal every opportunity to share with us what they know," Miliband noted. "We hope and expect they will cooperate with the investigation."

Police in Dubai accused Isreal of involvement in the assassination of a Hamas commander Mahmoud al Mabhouh, saying Mossad, Isreal's intelligence agency, was involved in the assassination, which was denied by the Isreali government.

Passports in the names of six British Isrealis were among 11 European identity papers revealed by Dubai police hunting the hit squad which allegedly carried out the murder.
