Honduran interim President Roberto Micheletti said Tuesday that his government does not fear an embargo by anybody and could go on without support from the Organization of American States (OAS).

After meeting with foreign ministers from an OAS mission that aimed to seek return of the ousted President Manuel Zelaya, Micheletti said his government has "analyzed with calm and sureness that this country can go on without your (OAS) support and that of other countries."

Micheletti also said his country would hold elections, whether "you (OAS) and other countries recognize us or not."

The OAS mission, led by OAS secretary general Jose Miguel Insulza and consisting of foreign ministers from Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Mexico and Panama, arrived in Honduras on Monday to help settle the political crisis resulting from the June 28 coup that forced Zelaya to leave Honduras.

Micheletti said he apologized to Insulza, saying that "I tell you with all my heart that the first time you left us totally hurt, however today we welcome you with love and respect."

"We have dignity, we demand respect as we are obliged to respect you," Micheletti added.

The mission left Tuesday after separate meetings with the interim president and many of ministers in the presidential house.
