Jordanian Prime Minister Nader al-Dahabi announced on Tuesday that his country was willing to make joint efforts with China to resume the stalled Palestinian-Israeli peace talks.

Jordan greatly appreciated China's contributions to the peace process in the Middle East, al-Dahabi said while meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.

Jordan was hoping to work together with China to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East, he added.

The momentum of China's economic development was encouraging in comparison with the sluggish economies of Western countries; this was of great significance for global economic recovery and cooperation between Jordan and China, the prime minister said.

Foreign Minister Yang said China appreciated Jordan's adherence to the one-China policy and support of China's efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and achieve a peaceful reunification.

According to Yang, China was ready to enhance political mutual trust, expand cooperation and boost multilateral coordination with Jordan.

Yang, who was on a visit to Jordan on Aug. 10-11, also met with Prince Faisal Bin al-Hussein and Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh.
