Malaysia says that airplane debris that washed up on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion has been identified as being from the same model as the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370.

Flaperon confirmed to be from a Boeing 777?

The wing part was flown to Paris on Saturday and was taken to Toulouse for examination by French, US, Malaysian and Boeing investigators.

"The wreckage found earlier is confirmed to be the flaperon from a Boeing triple seven. It's a Boeing triple seven part but whether it is MH370 part yet to be verify. I want to emphasis that is yet to verify and the verification will be done only on Wednesday," said Liow Tiong Lai, Malaysian Transport Minister.

Liow said Malaysia is contacting authorities in territories around Reunion to see if they can help locate other objects that could possibly have come from MH370.

Experts are hoping the wing surface, and a fragment of luggage also found on Reunion could yield clues to the fate of flight MH370, which disappeared without trace in March last year with 239 passengers and crew on board.
