A Ugandan newspaper has listed the names of two hundred people it calls "the top 200 homosexuals in the country." It comes a day after Ugandan President Yowri Museveni signed a tough new law which increases the penalties for homosexuality.

The list includes gay rights activists, priests and entertainers, along with stories detailing their alleged homosexual activity. The article has raised fears of a witch-hunt against gay people in Uganda. The new law includes life sentences for gay sex, and jail terms for the "promotion of homosexuality".

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has demanded the revision or repeal of the law. Ban says it will fuel prejudice and encourage harassment against gay people.

And Sweden's finance minister, Anders Borg, says his country will review its aid budget to Uganda, currently worth around 35 million U.S. dollars. Borg was visiting a group of gay activists in the country.
