Pervez Musharraf has arrived back in Pakistan, after more than four years of self-imposed exile. The former President's return comes despite a number of death threats against him in Pakistan. He's planning to take part in coming parliamentary elections on May 11th.

Musharraf, who has spent the last 4 and a half years living in London and Dubai, told supporters at Karachi airport that he wouldn’t be intimidated by threats by the Pakistani Taliban to kill him. He added that he’d proved the people wrong who said he’d never return.

Musharraf, who ruled Pakistan from 1999 to 2008, angered the Taliban and other Islamist groups by supporting the US war on terror, following the September 11th attacks of 2001. He later launched a major crackdown on militants in Pakistan, prompting a number of assassination attempts on his life.

The Pakistani Taliban recently vowed to use suicide bombers and snipers to kill him. He's also facing charges linked to the 2007 assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
