With some 180 days to go until The Olympic Games in London, sports-themed models, mascots, and merchandise are dominating the scene at the Toy Fair now being hosted in the city.

The Olympic mascot Wenlock is clear evidence that the games are nearly here. Decked out in patriotic Union flag colors, he proudly wears a gold medal around his neck. Also on display are Pride the lion, the mascot for the Great Britain Olympic team, as well as pens, key rings, and cuddly toys in all shapes and sizes.

British icons are the theme of this year's fair. Here a model in a Union flag dress poses by a Mini Cooper. Of course, the toy in her hand is also a Mini and when she presses the button out pops the British Lion.

The official Olympic toys from Golden Bear start from 7.8 US dollars for a small charm or pen to 234 dollars for the larger plush toys. Model maker Hornby is best-known for its detailed railway sets. And it has produced its own Olympic train for 2012, in the purple colors of the games.

Nat Southworth, marketing manager of Hornby, said, "One of the first products that we did was a limited-edition London 2012 train set, which is one of the high speed trains. A limited edition of 2012 pieces, all sold. A lot of our products are highly sought after collectibles."

The Olympic train set costs 156 US dollars. Winner of Best New Toy at the Fair are these stylized die-cast figurines representing the various sports at the games. The 30 collectable items cost 31 dollars and are available in a limited-edition of just 5,000 pieces.

The London Toy Fair is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, covering 200,000 square feet of show floor and featuring over 200 exhibitors. The Toy Fair is now in its 59th year, and closes Thursday at the London Olympia.
