Fashion buffs around the world can now experience Valentino couture in a whole new way - virtually. The famed Italian designer was joined by his celebrity pals, Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman.

Designer Valentino Garavani (L) speaks next to Giancarlo Giammetti (R) at a news conference during the opening of the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York December 5, 2011.

The press conference was held at the Museum of Modern Art on Monday. Now, let's head to New York to check out the virtual museum.

Over 300 gowns from the archives of Valentino Garavani can be accessed with a 360-degree view. They are paired with sketches, editorials, photos and interviews that tell the back story of each dress.

Valentino and Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway said, "Ladies and gentleman, today we are witnessing the birth of a revolution and no, I do not believe that word is hyperbolic. The Valentino family has created something that has never existed before - a virtual museum that will change art, the art world and how we experience both forever."

Also on hand was actor Hugh Jackman who says he has admired Valentino's work for years. And he appreciates Valentino's good heart.

Valentino Garavani said, "I think what touches me most is his generosity with it. It's free for everybody and he's a master. There's really no one like him and he's happy to share everything. I mean it's not just looking at the dresses, you get to see details, he shows you how he makes the dress. So if you're a student of fashion or beauty or art in any way, I think this is an amazing gift."

Valentino said he was honored to have Jackman and longtime friend Hathaway there to help launch the site.

Even though the iconic designer officially retired in 2008, the 79-year-old says he's still full of creativity.

Valentino Garavani said, "I love to design and draw. And I'm going to do unbelievable drawing of new creation because thank god I still quite creative."

With the help of real time 3D technology, the virtual museum allows guests to explore various galleries and wings, which in an actual museum would equal 10,000 square meters. And you can download it all for free.
