China calls for cooperation between Syria, AL

China has again called for an immediate end to the violence and a resolution to the crisis under the Arab League. A Foreign Ministry spokesman says Syria and the Arab League should strengthen communication and coordination for inclusive political reform in the region.

Tensions on the rise.

More bloodshed as Syrian security forces fire on mainly peaceful protestors. Despite the current tensions, the safety of Chinese expatriates is guaranteed.

Currently, there are more than 7-hundred Chinese in Syria, with the majority of them in Damascus and Aleppo.

The Chinese embassy to Syria is doing its best to ensure they are safe.

Zhang Xu, Ambassador to Syria, said, “We regularly report the current situation of Syria to the Chinese expatriates and Chinese-funded enterprises, and keep in close contact with them. We also have emergency plans. ”

In the meantime, China’s embassy to Syria is negotiating with the Syrian government in a bid to provide the Chinese with special protection.

So far, no plan for removing the Chinese has been put forward.

"Now, the number of Chinese in Syria has already been reduced. Some programs of Chinese funded enterprises have been put aside. We haven’t decided to bring all the Chinese back." Zhang said.

In terms of the signals sent by the Western countries on interfering in Syria, China supports solving the unrest in Syria under the Arab League.

"The current situation in Syria is still within the structure of the Arab League. There is no reason for any military interference." Zhang said.

A spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, says finding a solution under the Arab League is in accordance with the common interests of Syria, Arab countries and the international community as a whole.

With Syrian military vowing to "cut every evil hand" that targets the country’s security, more darker days are signalled to come in an eight-month protest against President Bashar Assad.
