The university games are not just about medals and competition. |
For example, this Chinese lucky bell was a gift from a security guard and the athletes say they will take it back home, a reminder of their fantastic time in China.
Not all events are held indoors with air conditioning. For most days since the beginning of the games, Shenzhen's average temperature has been 35 degrees Celsius. Beach volleyball is one of the most crowd-pleasing sports. But to please the crowd, there is a price to pay. This brother believes a towel can fend off the sun and also gives him some anonymity.
The athletes prefer a shower in the middle of the games. And for bikini-clad cheer leaders, there is little they can do to escape the scorching sun.
Volleyball Babes said, "It's really hot because of the heat. On the sole of my feet I have many blisters and on my foot feels like it's on fire."
But they think its still worth it. After all, it's the first major international event Shenzhen has ever held, and as locals, these volley ball babes are honored to be part of it.
