The Edinburgh Festival has been running for over 60 years and is the world's biggest arts gathering, with 2,500 shows over a three week period. This year there were more Chinese acts than ever before – including some young dancers from Beijing. UK correspondent Richard Bestic caught up with them on the streets of the Scottish capital.

Dancing on the street, and bringing the essence of Chinese culture to the other side of the world. The talented kids of Beijing Number 4 High School, delighting in the opportunity of their young lives.

Sharing ancient skills from the Middle Kingdom, their tiny students delighting in very new cross cultural adventures. Before donning their Imperial garb, these teenagers had to win out over hundreds of other hopefuls. Their display of English as impressive as their grasp of history.

The seemingly anarchic artistry of Edinburgh is celebrated worldwide. There's no system of selection here, if you can find a space to perform, you just do it.

Sometimes edgy, sometimes controversial, there is no quality control, and as a consequence some acts are brilliant, while others can teeter on a precipice of artistic lunacy.

It's no less fun for all that.
