India's central bank has the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China a business license, for a branch in Mumbai. That will help the bank foray into Asia's third-largest economy. The bank has already received approval from the China Banking Regulatory Commission.

ICBC plans to increase its global presence by setting up new branches in places like Brazil, India and Pakistan. It wants to generate 10 percent of its assets and profits from overseas by 2016.
