Millions of dead fish have appeared in the King Harbour Marina, in Southern California.

Residents sleeping in the harbor woke on Tuesday to find a carpet of small anchovies and sardines surrounding their boats.

The marine coordinator says the fish appear to have moved towards land to escape a red tide, a naturally occurring bloom of algae that can poison fish or starve them of oxygen.
