Apple's much-anticipated, second generation iPad, that is. But there's still news buzzing about for the first version, its price has been lowered by over 25 percent. And customers who might be feeling buyers remorse because they bought before the announcement, well they don't need to fret. Apple is offering to refund them 1,100 yuan or 167 U.S. dollars. Let's take a look at how the Chinese market is reacting.

Apple says the partial refund is available to customers who purchased the tablet within two weeks before the discounted price was announced. That means the policy will apply to sales after February 18th and before March 3rd.

The refund will be available to customers who bought iPads from Apple's website, or from direct sales stores.

Dong Lihui, Manager of Appliance Retailor said "The customers can obtain the refund from where they purchased the iPad. It doesn't matter whether they paid by cash or credit."

The company doesn't require its authorized dealers in China to give similar refunds. However, some have been quick to follow up, refunding customers at their own expense.

Suning Appliance, one of the country's major electronics retailers, is one such example.

Yuan Jian, Employee of Marketing Department, Suning Appliance said "Sunning will refund the price difference at its own expense, but it will later negotiate this matter with Apple."

Gome Appliance, Suning's main competitor, announced similar policies. But customers who bought iPads from the grey market or smaller dealers are not as lucky.

One dealer said "Apple doesn't require us to refund customers."

The iPad has swept the Chinese market, after it was first introduced in April 2010. Data shows, as of February 2011, the gadget dominated China's tablet computer segment with a 99 percent market share.

Experts say the new iPad 2's release and the price cuts will increase pressure on other tablet computer rivals, including Motorola and Samsung.
