Shanghai General Motors has begun recalling over 200,000 cars in China today, to fix faulty fuel lines. The recall covered over 130,000 2 and 2.4-liter Regal sedans, produced from September 2008 to October 2010. And nearly 100,000 2.4-liter LaCrosse cars.

The company's statement said the fault could cause the fuel pipe to break at the joints under extreme conditions, and the engine could fail to start or stop working. The oil leaks could also spark fires.

The after-sales service center at Shanghai General Motors is contacting car owners to arrange repair work, and its hotline offered counseling and reservation services.
