Everything's going to the rabbits

"When I look at these sea rabbits, I think they resemble the rabbits we typically see. Their ears, eyes and body shapes are quite similar, and they seem furry so they are nice to look at. I wish I could have one in my home." Said visitor Qiao Yuehong.
According to aquarium staff, the "sea rabbit" is the Chinese name for the species of colorful sea slugs that mostly feed on seaweed or algae. Its twin feelers each have different functions. One is used for feeling and the other for smelling.
The rabbitfish, on the other hand, looks more like a fish but its small mouth and shy demeanour is reminiscent of a rabbit. It is far from harmless, however, as its dorsal fin and spine are venomous.
Gu Minghua, Chief Supervisor of Marine Life, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, said, "2011 is the Year of the Rabbit, so as the Lunar New Year approaches, the aquarium wants to add to the festive spirit by showcasing marine life that has similarities to the rabbit. The sea rabbit has a pretty body and it's quite rarely seen so we chose to exhibit it. They look very beautiful so everyone should come and take a look."
The Chinese New Year falls on February 3rd this year.
