Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang has met with German President Christian Wulff in Berlin. The two countries will sign 11 cooperative agreements during Li's four-day visit.

Li hailed the development of bilateral ties, especially in the fields of economy and trade.

He also highlighted the fact that two-way trade reached 140-billion US dollars last year, 40 billion more than the planned target. That figure accounts for one third of China-EU trade.

The Vice Premier says his visit is aimed at expanding cooperation in areas such as technology, clean energy and cultural exchanges.

Li is accompanied by some 120 Chinese business leaders on his visit. The two sides are expected to sign 11 agreements and commercial contracts, covering fields such as automobile purchase and financial cooperation.

Li is telling German leaders that China is a long-term and responsible player in European financial markets. China has increased its holdings of, and will continue to buy Spanish government bonds.

Li says China views Europe as an important partner and would like to see it being prosperous.

Wulff echoed Li's view on bilateral ties, and says both countries should promote closer strategic partnership.

The President expressed his willingness to deepen cooperation with China in various areas. Li arrived in Germany from Spain on his three-nation European tour.
