Heavy snow and freezing temperatures across northern Europe have grounded many flights. A large number of travellers are stranded, including many Chinese. Matt Stuttard tells us how the Chinese travellers are coping with the unexpected delays.

Icy weather has almost entirely shut down London's Heathrow airport. In order to get home, some Chinese passengers flew to nearby transfer destinations, such as Stockholm and Helsinki.

Unfortunately, many of them were not holding visas for Sweden and Finland. But thanks to the coordination of China's Embassy in Sweden, Swedish authorities allowed them to pass, and they have arrived home.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong's SAR government has some good news for citizens stranded in London.

The government is working with Cathay Pacific, who have added extra flights to pick up stranded students this week.

Li added that the Hong Kong government will send chartered planes to Europe if the delays continue.

The first flight took 250 students to Manchester for transfer to Hong Kong. And as Heathrow works to re-open its runway, a second Cathay Pacific flight has departed London, carrying more students home to Hong Kong.
