The DPRK's official news agency says the country's National Peace Committee has issued a statement slamming the US-South Korea joint military exercises. The text says its the drills bringing war to the Korean Peninsula.

"The madcap aggression and war exercises, launched in the sea and sky near the extension of the Military Demarcation Line in the West Sea of Korea, are putting the Korean Peninsula in a state of ultra-emergency, while creating a grave situation where peace and security are exposed to serious threats."

The statement says the exercises are a very dangerous military provocation, as well as a rude challenge to the peace-loving DPRK and international society. It also says the DPRK will not be frightened, and has made preparations to deal with all kinds of provocations.

The text, stresses that the US and South Korea must be blamed for all consequences of tension and deterioration, of peace and stability on the peninsula.
