A cornucopia of Chinese folk art performances took to the stage this week in Jiangxi province. It's the exhibition of intangible cultural heritage held as part of the ongoing China Farmer Arts Festival. Now, let's take a look at some highlights of the colorful gala.

Tibetan girls singing accompanied by stringed instruments, artists dancing to drum beats, the Rice Sprout Song, or Yangge, and some acrobatic dancing. Watching the whole performance is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle of China's folk art.

The performance by ethnic Mongolian nationality people, for example, depicts Mongol's nomadic way of life. The centuries old Hui culture created by Anhui merchants, is where Peking Opera first developed. The show also includes Kejia culture, which reflects people's lives along the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

The performances took place in Wuyuan county of China's eastern Jiangxi province. Situated on the boundary of three provinces, it has been described by some overseas photographers as one of the "most beautiful Chinese villages."
