Nights are brighter than usual as China celebrates its 61st founding anniversary. Cities across China decorate themselves and people prefer staying up late.

When night falls, from households to boulevards, from public squares to the Central Business District, the capital was awash in light for the country's birthday.

The tallest building in Beijing is transformed into a giant lighthouse.

In Tianjin, yachts, buildings, Tianjin Eye, and the 100-year old Jiefang Bridge drew back the curtain of the night. People gazed in wonder beside the sleepless Haihe River.

Shanghai witnessed the climax of the World Expo as Friday was China National Pavilion Day. Lights at the park kept visitors entranced with their beauty -- a moment to be captured with a picture.

Tourists, said, "Just sitting here, listening to the music, and looking at those fountains...I feel Shanghai is so charming at night."

Shanghai's Bund, as always, was a bright and colorful attraction for visitors.

On the bank of the Zhujiang River in south China's Guangzhou city, with so many choices, Guangzhou Tower seems undecided as to which color goes better with the night. Finally she settles for purple.

In Hong Kong and Macao Special administrative Regions, you really can't miss the firework shows. A joyful experience for the senses, you simply take it all in and enjoy it.
