Italian fashion brands Dolce & Gabbana and Frankie Morello played with fresh summery looks at their spring/summer 2011 womenswear shows on Thursday. Let's have a look.

 

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana embraced a floral aesthetic, with pipeline garments in a palette of rose, pink and green, for their second line.

Flowery prints with vichy patterns formed the core of their picnic show to celebrate nature and freshness. Roses, freesias, violets and mimosas were the core of the collection. They featured canvas dungarees and mini shorts for the morning, accessorized with patent leather shoes. Long floral chiffon gowns were the collection's must-have for evening cocktail parties.

At the Frankie Morello show, Italian designers Maurizio Modica and Pierfrancesco Gigliotti roared into a rock scenery.

In an irreverent tribute to the Seventies, models came out of a vintage caravan, strutting on a sand-covered catwalk in ultra-thin satin dresses twinned with denim jackets.

Some models wore floor-length dresses in colors ranging from pale green to cream, as if faded by the sun.
