Twenty-three people are dead, while seven remain missing, in Rongxian County. A rescue team has spent 10 hours rebuilding a six-mile road into Liuwang Village, which was destroyed by landslides. Approximately 1,300 individuals have been evacuated so far, and emergency workers are combing the area for more missing people.

Zen Hailiang, Rescue Team Deputy captain, said, "We've cleared out most of the rubble and debris here, so we can now bring in heavy machines to begin the digging and removal work."

The city of Laibin has been bombarded by a seemingly endless succession of torrential rains, with the Liwo Residential Quarter immersed under flood waters for 40 hours. Some of the buildings are starting to crack and tilt. People are moving out of their submerged homes with a major sense of urgency.

Zhang Xiulong, Laibin City Party Committee Secretary, said, "We've checked around. One four-story building is about to fall down. Another is cracking. The situation is getting worse, so everyone living here should be transferred out. There are about 100 people left, and we're working on their cases right now."

Residents are being evacuated from their homes in boats and buses, heading for temporary shelters, with the help of rescuers.
