Leaders of China, Japan, South Korea begin summit meeting

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, his Japanese counterpart Yukio Hatoyama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak have met for a trilateral summit in Jeju.
At the two day summit, Premier Wen Jiabao says he has high expectations for the meeting.
Wen Jiabao, Chinese Premier, said, "I look forward to working with President Lee Myung-bak and Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama to achieve great things at this summit. Furthermore, we would like to accomplish our hope of fulfilling a peaceful and stable future for the region."
Lee Myung-bak, South Korean President, said, "I expect this meeting to be an opportunity to stabilize the three countries’cooperation and collaboration, while exchanging our candid opinions on regional and international situations including the recent sunken naval ship incident, Northeast Asian issues, the G20 summit and climate change."
Yukio Hatoyama, Japanese Prime Minister, said, "The situation on the Korean peninsula should be specially handled through relations between South Korea, China and Japan."
The three leaders exchanged views on the sunken South Korean warship and the DPRK's nuclear program. Economic issues such as a China-South Korea free trade area are high on the agenda.
After the meeting, Premier Wen visited a Korean-Chinese cultural center, where artists performed traditional Chinese music and martial arts.
