Yuanrong Times Square in Suzhou's industrial zone features a 500-meter long street that is decorated with 20 million bright lights. Costing hundreds of millions of yuan, or at least one million U.S. dollars, this area is proudly claimed by local people to be one of the longest light streets in the world.

Lic Harison is a businessman from the United States.

"It is incredible! I love this skyline. The vivid pictures play on the skyline which is controlled by the computer is very impressive. These pictures are amazing. I love to watch the picture of Statue of Liberty and condor, etc. Besides, I am also attracted by some pictures of other countries. That is so cool!"

Shawn James, a tourist, says that he had visited some LED skylights in other places, but the one in Suzhou impressed him most.

"It contains rich contents in this skylight. It tells us the story of Suzhou which can let us know more about the local characteristics."

After the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games, Suzhou Science and Technology Museum became a new attraction in the city. It is known as the minor 'Bird's Nest'. The two are both designed by Paul Andreu, a French architect. Based on the same design inspiration, he applies steel structures to both architectures.

However, he incorporates the idea of Suzhou gardens into the one here, making it a piece of modern architecture with classic elements.

Another architectural landmark in Suzhou is the New Suzhou Museum. This is the only museum on China's mainland designed by Leoh Ming Pei, a Chinese American who is widely considered to be one of the most distinguished architects in the world. Also, it was the last work of art by this great master who regards the museum as his "dearest little girl".

Suzhou is just an hour's drive from Shanghai. So if you plan to go to Shanghai during the 2010 World Expo, find some time to visit Suzhou, home of silk and embroidery. It won't disappoint.
