Jin Sha, or Golden Sands, is an archeological site in southwest China's Sichuan Province, which flourished around 1000 BC. Now, a costume drama has begun shooting there, set against the backdrop of the enigmatic site.

Among the leading cast members are several unique performers, capturing the bulk of attention. They're a bunch of baby pandas.

Director Chen Chen says the pandas are an integral part of the drama because they are regarded as a sacred animal, appearing at critical moments.

Panda experts have had to tailor a working schedule for the special performers, to ensure they stay happy and healthy.

The drama is based on the ancient archeological site of Jin Sha, which shares similarities with the noted Sanxindui site. True to its name "Golden Sands", the site is extraordinarily rich in gold relics, including masks and decorations.

"Jin Sha" the drama is scheduled to complete filming in July.
