The World Health Organization says the confirmed death toll in the Haiti earthquake has climbed up to 110 thousand people. But amid the grim task of recovering bodies and treating survivors, a 35-year-old man was pulled alive by US troops from a collapsed building.

He was rescued two weeks after the earthquake and appeared to have no serious injuries. More than 130 people have been pulled alive from rubbles by rescue teams, although hopes of finding more survivors are fading fast.

Elsewhere, food distribution is vital to survivors. As more aid starts to filter through to Port-au-Prince residents, vendors are also back in business. But thousands of survivors still have no steady access to food, and some of the food distribution points experienced unruly mobs.

Shelter is another concern. It's estimated 700-thousand to 800-thousand people are living in tent cities across Port-au-Prince.
