Anti-whaling activists released new video backing up their claims a Japanese whaling vessel rammed their protest boat Wednesday. Japan says the protest boat's life-threatening behavior caused the collision.

 

The hardline Sea Shepherd Conservation Society says the Japanese security ship Shonan Maru No.2 deliberately rammed into the protest ship Ady Gil after the powerboat stopped moving.

All six crew members were rescued, but the collision left one activist with broken ribs. The boat was also cut in half.

The video quickly sparked Australian sentiment against Japanese Whaling.

Stephanie Pillora, Sydney Resident, said, "I was extremely concerned, I thought he is really inspiring and courageous in terms of what he is doing, there is overwhelming public support to stop whaling. The volunteers on that ship are doing work on behalf of the Australian community and I'd expect the Australian government to get completely behind them."

The Australian government also took sides, calling for "calm heads, calm judgment", from both sides. They are also prepared for further actions.

Julia Gillard, Australian Deputy Prime Minister, said, "If ultimately, the matter about whaling cannot be resolved diplomatically, then we reserve our rights to initiate international legal action. Indeed we've already collected the evidence to support such international legal action."
