President Hu Jintao met with the chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Monday afternoon in Beijing. Donald Tsang Yam-Kuen presented a report on Hong Kong's economy.

President Hu Jintao says because of the international financial crises, Hong Kong has faced great difficulties since July of 2008. The central government responded with a series of measures, supporting Hong Kong to stabilize its financial situation, develop the economy and improve living standards.

The President says that under the circumstances, the administration in Hong Kong faced the challenges and made great achievements. He says the central government fully recognizes the SAR government's efforts.

President Hu Jintao expressed the hope that people from all walks of lives in Hong Kong can join hands and work toward an even better future.
