Friday was a deadly day of blasts in Pakistan, with at least 26 people killed. These attacks come as the army presses ahead with a major anti-Taliban offensive in the northwest.

A Taliban suicide bomber struck a checkpoint outside a major air force facility on Friday

morning.

The attack was near the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex at Kamra, about 50 kilometers from the capital, Islamabad.

Seven people were killed, including two security officials. Thirteen others were wounded.

A police officer said, "This blast occurred on the GT road at the first checkpoint. When security officials checked the suicide bomber, he blew himself up."

Hours later, a car bomb exploded outside a restaurant in the northwestern city of Peshawar. Police say 15 people were injured.

A worker at targeted restaurant said, "Near 11:50, I was working in front of the restaurant and the blast happened...in a Toyota Corolla car."

Local TV reports say 18 people heading to a wedding were killed when their bus hit a landmine in Pakistan's tribal area of Mohmand.

The reports say militants planted the mine to target army convoys.

Friday's blasts were the latest wave of militant strikes in Pakistan, as an army operation entered the seventh day in a Taliban stronghold.
