Car manufacturers unveiled a range of electric cars and hybrid engines at this year's Frankfurt Auto Show.
Companies from Volkswagen AG to Hyundai Motor, took part with a particular focus on designs that eschew traditional combustion engines for more environmentally friendly electric motors and hybrid models.
Analysts expect global production of electric cars to expand rapidly in the coming years. Some forecast an increase from ninety-five hundred vehicles this year, to more than 58 thousand by 2011.
