"Sophie's Revenge," a comedy set to be released in China on August 14, and in South Korea on August 20, marks a change of pace for "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" star Zhang Ziyi after four dramas.

Zhang described "Sophie's Revenge" as a light-hearted film.
The movie,a South Korean-Chinese co-production,also marks Zhang's debut as a producer.
In "Sophie's Revenge," the 30-year-old actress plays a comic book artist who schemes to get her fiance back after losing him to an actress. The 50-million yuan, or 7.3 million-US dollar, Chinese-language film also stars popular Chinese actress Fan Bingbing as Sophie's rival Joanna, and South Korean actor So Ji-sub as Sophie's fiance Jeff.
Zhang said that she found Sophie's character very believable and easy to understand,but said she does not expect to ever find herself in a similar situation.
Zhang said, "No, it's OK. I think the Sophie character is not difficult to understand, so when I was acting, I felt that the style of talking and acting belonged to Sophie. But they are not mine, really. When I was playing Sophie's character,I was totally immersed in it."
Zhang made her film debut in famed director Zhang Yimou's heart-warming 1999 love story "The Road Home," but her career really took off when Oscar-winning director Ang Lee cast her in his 2000 kung fu hit "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."
She played a Japanese escort in the 2005 Hollywood film "Memoirs of a Geisha," then an empress in "The Banquet," Chinese director Feng Xiaogang's 2006 adaptation of "Hamlet."
With 10 years of acting and a producer credit to her name, Zhang Ziyi is currently China's most recognizable actress.
