The pop star's music was among best sellers since it reached China in the 1990s. Although his later life was marred by scandals and plastic surgery kept altering his appearance, most of his Chinese fans prefer to judge the star by his music.
Liu Qiqi said, "I feel this is a great loss not just for his fans in the United States but also for the whole world. Although there is a lot of negative news about him, but by judging him in terms of his music and his dancing, I think it is such a pity."
Zhu Hui said, "I think we should view him in a positive light as he had worked so hard in the entertainment circle and it is not easy. We try to see the positive side of him."
For many musicians in China, Michael Jackson is a genius, even a model in pop music.
Before his death, Jackson was preparing for what was to be his greatest comeback. Now, his fans in China are left only with his music and their memories of the King of Pop.
