Carlos Arthur Nuzman, Rio 2016 Bid Committee President, said, "A lot of Games are concentrated in Europe and other nations and especially the United States and now the south hemisphere has the right. We have in our continent 400 (million) people...180 (million) of them young. Then I think that now it's fair for the Olympic movement to bring this to Rio."

Madrid was the final bid of the day.

The 2012 Olympic games are to be held in London, a fellow European city, which could count against Spain if the IOC was keen to show the Olympic games should be held across the continents of the world.

Juan Antonio Samaranch JNR, Spain's IOC Member, said, " I can not believe that geography is the parameter by which you have to measure a rotation. I have to tell you that after an extraordinary Games in Asia under the Chinese culture. We will have extraordinary Games in London under the Anglo Saxon culture. You want rotation, I'll give it to you."

After all the presentations, the IOC President Jacques Rogge said he was pleased with the outcome of the meetings.

Jacques Rogge, IOC President, said, " There was a very good atmosphere. I believe that the candidate cities are happy. Definitely the membership is very happy about these meetings. It allows for an in depth discussion on issues that would not necessarily come up in the formal presentation session."

The announcement of who will win the bid will be made in Copenhagen on the 2nd of October.
