The second day of Milan's Autumn/Winter 2009/2010 fashion week on Sunday saw a profusion of the world's leading fashion houses unveil their latest menswear collections. Among them were Vivienne Westwood, Miuccia Prada and Gianfranco Ferre.
Dame Vivienne Westwood's winter 2010 collection was packed full of warm winter fabrics such as wool and sheepskin. Tweed and Westwood's signature tartan all made an appearance, with denim and leather also being used.
The eccentric and eclectic collection saw some models walk down the red carpet in kilts and knee high socks teamed with flowery jackets, while others sported dungarees accessorised with gardening equipment - including sheers, watering cans and shovels.
But Westwood did conform to the norm when it came to tailored suits, oversized man bags and hooded jackets.
Westwood’s husband Andreas Kronthaler said, "Fashion, what is fashion I mean I think we are doing great fashion, in the end you give people a choice and that is what it is all about, it is about individuals, leaving them a bit of space you know. Fashion is good you know but you have to take it slight and I think you should try to always add a bit of yourself in it and I think our clothes give this space .. to you, you know you can put your own little thing, I think English people are like this anyway you know they don't just take anything which is told to them, you know they will twist it they will give it another angle another dimension."
